Amid colourful attires, vibrant moments, and energetic performances, NTPC Talaiapalli wrapped up the month-long Girl Empowerment Mission program on June 6, 2023. Organised at the Bal Bhawan building situated in the Kosal Vihar NTPC Township, the GEM program fostered more than 40 girls from across the villages in the vicinity of the project.

The closing ceremony for the four-week long program saw the attendance of Smt Risha Thakur, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Gharghoda, who witnessed the ceremony as the chief guest of the event. Smt Thakur was joined by Shri Somes Bandyopadhyay, Business Unit Head, NTPC Talaipalli, and Smt Dolan Chapa Bandyopadhyay, President, Tilottama Mahila Samiti.

The program kickstarted with the lighting of the lamp and NTPC Geet, which was sung by the GEM participants. Following this, a string of cultural programs left the audience in awe. A well-balanced mixture of dances, dramas, and skill shows, the cultural program truly highlighted the talent of the girls who participated in the Girl Empowerment Mission program organised by NTPC Talaipalli.

Following the jaw-dropping performances, which also included yoga and karate spectacles, certificates commemorating the training of the GEM participants were distributed. In addition, some exceptional performances were also rewarded with various prizes. Furthermore, the GEM participants were also extended mementos from Tilottama Mahila Samiti, which had a significant contribution to the successful organising of the GEM program.

Post the event, dinner was served, followed by the de-registration of the GEM participants. In this, the girls were handed over to their parents, along with the certificates, mementos, and gifts from NTPC Talaipalli. The Girl Empowerment Mission program, organised by NTPC Talaipalli, was a first for the project and opened gates to more such noble programs in the coming future.
