NTPC Simhadri observed the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with great reverence and spirit, under the aegis of the ST-SC Employee Welfare Association on 14th April at Sakuntalam Auditorium.

The event was graced by Shri P K Jena, GM (O&M) as the Chief Guest, who spoke on the enduring relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals in building inclusive institutions. He emphasized the importance of equal opportunity in the workplace and encouraged employees to uphold the values of justice, dignity, and progress.

The special address was delivered by Dr. Priyanka, Political Science Faculty from Andhra Pradesh University. Her engaging talk reflected on Dr. Ambedkar’s role as a social reformer, legal scholar, and nation-builder. She urged the younger generation to read and understand his writings to better shape an equitable future.

A colourful cultural programme by children enlivened the occasion, with performances that paid tribute to Dr. Ambedkar’s life and legacy. Their songs, dances, and recitations beautifully captured the spirit of equality, education, and empowerment.

The commemorative event brought together employees, their families, union and association members, and senior leadership in a collective tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution.

Also present at the event were Smt. Padmapriya, GM (TS); Shri Novahu Gadam, GM (VPG); Shri V T Kamble, GM(USSC-C&M); Shri B B Patra (AGM-HR); G Chandra Sekhar President SC&ST Employees Welfare Association, General Secretary; A Venkateswara Rao and several other senior officials and dignitaries. The presence of employees' families added a warm and inclusive atmosphere to the gathering.The event concluded with a vote of thanks by a representative of the ST-SC Welfare Association, reaffirming NTPC Simhadri’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive work culture inspired by the values of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
