NTPC has signed an agreement with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), for the Establishment of NTPC Centre of Excellence in Cardiovascular Research at IIT Madras. Under the agreement, NTPC has extended financial support of up to ₹ 25.27 crs.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been signed on 29th April by Prof Ashwin Mahalingam, Dean, Alumni, and Corporate Relations, IITM and Shri V Jayanarayanan, General Manager (HR/CSR/LA/R&R), NTPC Ltd at NTPC Bhawan, SCOPE Complex, New Delhi. Also present at the event were Shri P K Sahu, AGM(CSR), NTPC Ltd and officials from IITM.
The objective of the project is to conduct cutting-edge research of cardiovascular diseases, to drive the development of innovative diagnostic tools, therapies, interventions, next-gen cardiovascular devices & to enhance public awareness about cardiovascular health and promote preventive measures. The Project involves setting up of Cardiac Cellular Physiology research facility focused on genetic research, biomarker discovery & regenerative therapies & Cardiovascular Mechanics and Engineering research facility dedicated to developing next-generation cardiac devices, enhancing imaging techniques, and advancing surgical innovations at IITM. This collaboration underscores NTPC’s continued commitment to nation-building through impactful CSR initiatives.
